Does PianoRT include Pianoteq?
No. You’ll need your own Pianoteq license from Modartt, unless a bundled arrangement exists later.
Will it work with my digital piano?
We currently guarantee compatibility with digital pianos via the U2Midi Pro interface, which carries MIDI from the piano to Pianoteq. Other class-compliant MIDI gear may work but isn’t guaranteed yet.
Is it silent?
Yes — inaudible at idle and under load on the tested unit.
Does it need a monitor?
Not required to play. By default, PianoRT boots into a stripped Weston (Wayland) session running a minimal Pianoteq interface, so if you do connect a screen, that’s what you’ll see — not a full desktop.
Can it run other VST instruments?
Not yet. PianoRT currently launches Pianoteq as a dedicated standalone instrument. The Linux architecture can support VST3/LV2 hosts in the future — any such build would be retested for latency and reliability before shipping.
What happens after a power failure?
PianoRT boots back into a known playable state automatically.
Is the code open source?
Not yet — it’s headed there. We’re documenting the build as we go and plan to open-source it fully once it’s ready to share properly.
How does the $100 deposit work?
It reserves your place in the current batch and is refunded automatically if your unit isn’t delivered within 30 days. The balance is arranged directly before your unit ships.
What’s the return policy?
Returns are accepted within 15 days of delivery. The customer covers return shipping. Hardware carries a 1-year warranty.
